AI credits explained
Your workspace has an AI balance measured in dollars. Using AI deducts from that balance. When it hits zero, AI pauses until you add more. That’s the whole mental model.
What consumes your AI balance
Any AI-powered feature:
- Meeting, message, and document summaries
- Semantic search / Deep Research
- Automatic translation
- Agents and AI automations
- Bankai Voice actions that generate text
- AI inside boards (auto-fill a field, suggest a tag, etc.)
Does NOT consume your balance: using chat, sending a message, creating a board, uploading a file, running a meeting without transcription. The software itself is free.
Does my balance accumulate month to month?
It depends on the source:
- Included Credits — the monthly allowance that comes with your plan ($5/month on Truly Free and Enterprise Free, $40 per seat on Pro, $500 per seat on Max). These reset every month. Unused amounts do not roll over.
- Extra Usage — anything you add manually on top (pay-as-you-go top-ups). These never expire and accumulate indefinitely.
Consumption order: when a new month starts, your Included Credits are used first. Your Extra Usage balance only starts depleting once Included Credits hit zero. That way your accumulated balance is protected.
How do I check my balance?
Workspace Settings → Billing. Your current balance is at the top.
Does my balance go down faster on bigger teams?
Yes. Enterprise workspaces (100+ members) consume their balance faster than smaller teams. Infrastructure for large workspaces — model routing, rate limits, spam protection, storage — costs more to run, and that’s reflected in how fast the balance depletes. Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max offer much better value per dollar, and almost always pay for themselves for heavy AI users at that scale.
